Voice Over Internet Protocol - What is it?

V.O.I.P stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. What then, is V.O.I.P? It is the transfer of a voice(s) (conversation) over the internet. Businesses took notice of the Internet Phone System more than homes rather it was used less for domestic purposes when it had just been introduced and was new. But today, things have completely changed regarding VOIP; it has in fact become a technology used commonly
There are three things that attract people the most towards VOIP; these are simplicity, practicality and reliability. Within a network any incoming phone call can be routed towards a VOIP through Internet Telephony. The VOIP phones of a network may even be connected in various locations, but it’ll work just like an office or home telephone, you just need an Internet connection.
VOIPs and Internet phones can be used to make phone calls that are local no matter which part of the world you are in. You can also travel internationally and make or receive local telephone calls through your VOIP telephone. This attracts large companies with call centre staff that are very large.
Another feature that attracts large companies and businesses is that through VOIP, along with making calls you can exploit all other Internet facilities and mediums of communication. Through VOIP you can engage in video conferencing or audio messaging even file exchanging and instant messaging. You can also make use of the address books.

There are a lot of offers that Internet Phone services provide for their users. For example, they offer free internet phone calls and also free numbers. Also, certain services that a telecommunications company would perhaps charge extra for are added in the package, therefore there are no extra charges. These may be caller ids, 3 way calling, automatic redialing, call blocking etc. These are the add-ons that come for free and are rather useful.
